Walking in the Good Word
August 13, 2023 Preacher: Ryan Brice Series: Psalm 119
Passage: Psalm 119:105–112
Main Idea: Walking in the good Word requires that we trust and obey Scripture in all circumstances.
Trusting Scripture as a Light for Your Path
- v105 - Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.
- 2 Corinthians 4:3, 4
- 1 Peter 2:9
- 1 John 1:5–7
- v111, 112 - Your testimonies are my heritage forever, for they are the joy of my heart. I incline my heart to perform your statutes forever, to the end.
- Proverbs 3:5, 6
- Psalm 20:7
Obeying Scripture No Matter What May Come
- v106 - I have sworn an oath and confirmed it, to keep your righteous rules.
- Matthew 5:33–36
- v107–110 - I am severely afflicted; give me life, O Lord, according to your word! Accept my freewill offerings of praise, O Lord, and teach me your rules. I hold my life in my hand continually, but I do not forget your law. The wicked have laid a snare for me, but I do not stray from your precepts.
- Hebrews 13:12–16
So What?
- Am I walking in the light of God’s good Word or in the deep darkness of my own unrighteousness?
- Proverbs 3:18, 19
- John 1:4, 5
