Who a Pastor Should Be

11 “And he gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelist, the shepherds and teachers,”

A called, qualified, and gifted man of God…

1 Timothy 3:1-7
1 Timothy 5:17

…who is given by God to the local church.


What a Pastor Should Do

12a “to equip the saints…”

Shepherd the flock…

Acts 20:28-30

…while teaching truth…

2 Timothy 4:1-2

Ephesians 4:15

…in order to equip all believers.

Colossians 1:28

Why a Pastor Should Do This

12b “for the work of ministry, for the building up of the body of the body of Christ, 13 until we all attain the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to mature manhood, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ,”

So that believers may do the work of ministry…

Romans 12:3-8

…to build up the Body…

Ephesians 4:14

…which fosters unity in the faith…

Ephesians 4:3-4

…and creates an environment where disciples make disciples.

Ephesians 4:16


So What?

Will I open myself up to being equipped and join in the work of ministry according to God’s plan for His church?
